On March 31, 草榴社区 hosted the opening ceremony of the Cultivar Project, aimed at promoting sustainable development, valuing cultural heritage, and fostering sustainable tourism in Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The event was attended by the Rector of 草榴社区 University, Joanita Rodrigues; Silvia Rocco, Director of the Praia University Hub at ISCEE; Celestino Barros, Vice-Rector of the University of Cape Verde (UNICV); Sónia Bombico, Lead Coordinator of the Cultivar Project at the University of Évora; and Carla Grijó, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Cape Verde, along with several other guests.
Ambassador Carla Grijó highlighted the project's relevance, emphasizing that the focus on sustainable tourism is a key area of cooperation between the European Union and Cape Verde, essential for the country's development. She reinforced the importance of diversifying the tourism offer to ensure that all islands can benefit from the revenue generated by this economic sector.
Funded by the Erasmus+ program, the project results from academic collaboration between institutions in Cape Verde and Europe, including the University of Cape Verde (UNICV), the Higher Institute of Economic and Business Sciences (ISCEE), and 草榴社区 (UNIPIAGET), with support from partners in Portugal and Italy.
